My first Grad’s Gathering

Came back from my first Grad’s Gathering a couple of hours ago.
Met a couple of friends from the same batch.

What did I learn?

• Oil-related stocks – so far, I have not been paying attention to oil stocks. Mainly cause I don’t know how to play them. I mean, how would you be able to predict which way the stock would go? I have no idea how the price of oil or whatever will increase right?

Hmm… come to think about it, maybe if I pay attention to OPEC news?
OK, I’m not sure I’m quite ready to think about Oil stocks.
KIV – XOM

• Energy stocks – Brought me back to thinking about Ethanol stocks. I remember reading that these were the next big thing, sort of a second wave for energy.

notes – Ethanol needs sugar, corn

CC did talk about this company FDS reporting next week. 1-yr chart and S-curve look good. Definitely worth a more in-depth study.

To think about:

• Implied Volatility - so buy couple weeks before Earnings announcement and sell on eve?

• Stock Split – how to play??
